H.W. Sands Visible Opaque Dyes (VOD) are designed to block all light within the visible spectrum but still allow light to be transmitted outside of this visible region, such as the Ultra-Violet, Near IR, or IR Ranges. Generally, these products are black or very dark in color and can be used to hide sensors or detectors from our eyes but allow transmission of the signal.
These products are also referred to as Near Infrared Cut-on Filters or Long Wavelength Band Pass Filters. Visible Light Absorbing Dye (VLAD) act as a colored Visible Opaque Dye. As opposed to being black and absorbing all visible light, these products block a specific color range while transmitting the remaining visible spectrum as well as NIR and IR wavelengths.
Visible Opaque and Visible Light Absorbing dyes can be used in a wide variety of applications. The dyes can be incorporated into a variety of systems including Inks, Coatings, Plastics and Epoxy systems.
Custom solutions can be developed to meet specific application targets.
